The AS2 from Aerion in Reno, Nevada, will be the first supersonic business jet to market, Boeing officials in Chicago predict. Boeing (NYSE:BA) is providing engineering, industrial, and financial resources in partnership with Aerion to accelerate technology development and aircraft design, with the goal of bringing supersonic air travel to new markets.
The strategy identifies 2025 as a target year to collaborate with communities around the globe and create products focused on environmental performance, emissions and waste reduction, and lower levels of water and energy consumption at work sites.

U.S. Air Force officials announced a $9.2 billion award to Boeing [NYSE:BA] to provide a new, advanced pilot training system that will help train fighter and bomber pilots for generations to come, officials say. Boeing, designated as prime contractor on the Advanced Pilot Training Program, is contracted to deliver 351 jets, 46 simulators, and associated ground equipment. Boeing and risk-sharing partner Saab designed, developed, and flight tested two all-new, purpose-built jets, proving out the system’s design, repeatability in manufacturing, and training capability.
According to the contract, Boeing will initially receive $79 million to begin work on four operational MQ-25 refueling “drones” with integration into the carrier air wing for initial operational capability by 2024. Boeing will receive another $9.5 billion at a later date to produce 72 more aircraft.
After wrapping up a wing swap on 173 Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II close air support attack aircraft, the Boeing Company was awarded with another Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) sustainment contract award from the U.S. Air Force to continue re-winging the rest of the A-10 fleet.
