LED ground lighting from LEDtronics improves safety, efficiency, and reduces maintenance costs for rail locomotives, according to the company. When incandescent lights outside low-emissions, reduced-noise CLCX (Chattahoochee Locomotive Co.) locomotives were wasting power and not providing sufficient bright light to illuminate the steps, couplers, and trucks of locomotives, LEDtronics LED ground lighting was employed. The output improved lighting from pale yellow to a daylight bright light while increasing the bulb life by more than five times and reducing the power draw by 90%. The LED bulbs were designed to fit existing fixtures of industry-standard A19 incandescent bulbs, preventing reconfiguration costs, and they reduced the power draw from 25 to 2.3 W.
