John Deere Power Systems’ lineup of PowerTech Interim Tier 4/Stage III B diesel engines meets emissions regulations without sacrificing performance, reliability, durability, or operator convenience, according to the company. The PowerTech engine platform includes cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) for NOx control and adds an exhaust filter for reducing particulate matter. Engines include full-authority electronic controls, a four-valve cylinder head, a high-pressure fuel system, turbocharging, and an air-to-air aftercooling system without selective catalytic reduction. The cooled EGR and exhaust filter approach is said to improve fluid economy. Included in the lineup are the PWX, PVX, and PSX 4.5 L; two PVX and a PSX 6.8 L; PVX and PSX 9.0 L; and PSX 13.5 L. Together the PowerTech engines offer between 63 and 448 kW (85 and 600 hp).
