Caliper disc brake

Series 520 hydraulic-apply fixed caliper disc brakes from Mico use a modulated hydraulic pressure source to control brake torque for on- and off-highway service braking applications. The brake can be mounted in a vertical or horizontal position and can be attached directly to a threaded hanger or a clamp. Two ductile iron caliper halves pressurized by a single inlet port cross-over tube allow hydraulic pressure to actuate the 2.25-in (57.15-mm) piston in each half. The unit provides continuous pressure of 1000 psi (69 bar) and weighs 17 lb (7.7 kg). To reduce lining wear, a spring-operated lining retractor mechanism maintains a constant lining-to-rotor disc clearance distance when the brake is not applied; linings can be replaced without disassembling or removing the brake.
