A hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulator coined Scalexio from dSPACE features a hardware and software architecture that addresses dynamically changing requirements in HIL projects. A flexible component design enables each system to be built to the desired configuration. Scalexio is software-configurable and versatile for use in various test tasks such as hardware configuration and plant modeling. Systems can be modified and adapted to test various types of ECUs with minimum effort on the same system. Changes can be made in late stages of a project, and Scalexio can be sized to fit specific test tasks. With standardized component design and connections, hardware modules can be installed in any slot, and all channels are configured graphically, enabling automatic system documentation.
