All eight models in the new John Deere 100 Series of lawn tractors run with engines exclusively designed for Deere that contribute to improved fuel economy and reduced sound levels. They also feature a new fuel tank that is said to reduce emissions as well as a redesigned hood and operator's area to improve visibility and operating comfort.
The tractors all come with The Edge Cutting System. This 3-in-1 mowing deck lets the operator choose between mulching, bagging, and side-discharging, and it has a more precise mowing height that can be controlled within a ¼-in using the height of cut adjustment.
Attachments are easily installed on all 100 Series models with the exclusive CargO Mount System, which enables owners to easily add or remove the appropriate attachment for mowing, plowing, aerating, and hauling.
The 100 Series ranges from 17.5 to 24 hp (13 to 17.9 kW). The D100 features a 17.5-hp (13-kW) engine and five-speed transmission, while the D110 has a 19.5-hp (14.5-kW) engine with an automatic transmission that offers a two-pedal forward/reverse and increased travel speeds.
Power is increased up to 21 hp (15.7 kW) on the D120, which also features cruise control and a high back seat. The D130 has a V-twin engine for 22 hp (16.4 kW), as well as a double bar bumper and fender flares. The D140 upgrades to a wider 48-in mower deck with three blades and electric mower blade engagement (PTO).
The D150, D160, and D170 are offered with a 24-hp (17.9-kW) V-twin, with the D170 offering the widest mower deck at 54 in.
