The Garlock SGi shaft grounding bearing isolator protects bearings from electrical damage and from lubricant loss and contamination. It is maintenance-free and features a nonsparking bronze labyrinth seal and shaft grounding ring in a single unit suitable for motors controlled by variable frequency drives running pumps, fans, high-speed spindles, and other equipment in severe-duty applications such as mining. Garlock SGi diverts currents to ground, bypassing bearings and extending motor life. A FiberLock Channel secures circumferential rows of flexible, conductive microfibers, preventing dislocation and accidental contamination of the bearing and preventing breakage. The SGi also provides a noncontact isolation seal to withstand dust and jetting liquids. Operating temperature ranges from -22 to +300°F (-30 to +149°C), and the unit is available for motor-shaft sizes ranging from 0.875 to 6 in (22.2 to 152.4 mm) in various configurations.
