Mahindra acquires EV capability

Reva recently premiered its next-generation electric car models, the NXG (shown) and the NXR.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. recently acquired a majority stake in Reva Electric Car Co. Ltd. and plans to change the EV maker’s name to Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicle Co. Ltd. Mahindra takes a 55.2% equity in Mahindra Reva. In addition to the electric three-wheeler Bijlee developed in 1999, Mahindra currently is working on an electric version of its mini-truck, the Maxximo. Mahindra Reva’s EV technology will be adapted for these and other vehicles. Reva currently is marketing its products in 24 countries and has sold more than 3500 units.
