The PI3101 Cool-Power dc-dc converter from Picor is a high-density isolated device that delivers 60 W at half the size of existing units, thus delivering a power density of over 105 W/in². The surface-mount Power-System-in-Package (PSiP) platform has a 0.57-in² footprint and 0.27-in profile, making it suited for applications where board space, airflow, and height dimensions are critical. The device operates over 36 to 75 V while providing a regulated 3.3 V output at up to 18 A output current. It can withstand input voltage transients of up to 100 V for 100 ms and provides 2250 V input-to-output isolation. Applications include advanced telecom and wireless infrastructure, networking, and communications, Power-over-ethernet applications, and high-speed server platforms where power conversion density is critical.
