Through its U.S. subsidiary, Kontron, which specializes in embedded computing technology, has acquired San Diego-based AP Labs Group. The group, which has two operating companies, is regarded as one of the leading system integrators in the areas of defense and aerospace. Kontron plans to integrate AP Labs with its North American headquarters in San Diego. With the acquisition, Kontron intends to expand its position as a provider of sophisticated complete solutions for the security area. AP Labs' strengths in the engineering area are expected to help Kontron optimize both future development costs and times to product launch. Time to market will also be reduced significantly as a result of the complete solutions product range.
