Prima North America’s Convergent Lasers CL-R pulsed Nd:YAG laser is designed to be an in-place replacement for the JK704 lasers used by Laserdyne Systems customers. According to the company, the CL-R laser provides current Laserdyne system users a replacement option for the JK704 while at the same time offering an upgrade opportunity for increasing system performance. Users of earlier-model Laserdyne 780, 890, and 790 systems will be offered a turnkey retrofit package, including complete on-site installation and start-up assistance. The CL-R laser provides a wide range of process flexibility. The laser combines up to 50-kW peak power with low-divergence resonator optics to produce a high-intensity laser spot for drilling holes up to 75 mm (3 in) in length, drilling 3-mm (0.12-in) long holes at 10 holes/s on the fly, and cutting at 300 mm (12 in)/min or to 20 mm (0.8 in) in depth.
