Ceradyne will supply and install protective armor made of advanced technical ceramics for the command station of nine 35-m (115-ft) patrol vessels being manufactured for the Iraqi Navy by Swiftships.

Ceradyne Inc., in conjunction with Turner Strategic Technologies LLC, has been awarded a contract for the supply and installation of protective armor for the command station of nine new 35-m (115-ft) patrol vessels being manufactured for the Iraqi Navy by Swiftships. The contract is estimated at between $3.5 million to $6 million, depending on customer-exercised options. Ceradyne is providing state-of-the-art armoring technology that is said to be capable of protecting the ship’s crew under severe combat conditions. These vessels are being purchased through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales Program and will increase the overall naval capability of the Iraqi Navy.
