Sunnen’s HTD tube hone delivers a 16-m stroke and handles parts up to 1000 mm in diameter. An electronically controlled, 30-kW spindle motor powers stock removal of 2500 cm3/h for fast, accurate honing of parts including helicopter driveshafts, marine driveshafts, bimetallic tubes, and hydraulic cylinders. The machine is designed to correct bore geometry and size errors, as well as to produce specific surface finishes and crosshatch angles to ensure correct sliding/sealing surfaces between mating parts. A Windows-based controller provides optimum control of bore geometry with functions for stroke position, motion, stone feed, and cutting pressure. Abrasives include aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, CBN, and diamond honing stones.
