3-D data to XVL conversion

  • 19-Feb-2010 12:41 EST

XVL Converter version 6.1 from Lattice Technology allows 3-D CAD data to be read accurately into XVL. The converter supports major 3-D CAD formats, which include Wildfire 5, Autodesk Inventor 2010, Solid Edge ST2, and Wildfire 5 64-bit platforms. The converters are offered as plug-ins to CAD systems as well as stand-alone applications along 3-D CAD seats and inside product life cycle management systems. They enable compression of 3-D design data up to 0.5% of its original size with no loss of accuracy. The compression makes it possible for manufacturing enterprises to mock up, simulate, and manipulate 3-D data using the Lattice Technology Solutions, even on lower-specification PCs. The Lattice3D Dataway application also supports import and export of 3-D PDF data into XVL.

One of the biggest issues in bringing forward new designs is the length of time that it takes to agree to a new specification, research and evaluate the alternative features and configurations, and then embark on a development program that will take the design to flight testing and ultimately operational service.
