CD-adapco and Battery Design feature the battery simulation module available within CD-adapco’s simulation tool STAR-CCM. The battery simulation module allows a user to model the detailed electrochemistry of battery cells within a complete vehicle thermal simulation, taking into account installation effect as well as transient load cases. The method is applicable at the cell, module, and battery pack level and contains a range of mathematical models to simulate the fundamental electrochemistry of the battery. According to CD-adapco, the battery simulation module is an analysis tool that will accelerate product development and support vehicle programs across the globe as it delivers insight into the interactions of the electrical system, primarily the battery, within the complete vehicle. As well as solver technology, the battery simulation module provides tools within the interface to quickly assemble complete battery packs from a single cell.
