Honeywell provides LED lighting to Mexican airline

Volaris Airlines selected Honeywell’s LED technology upgrade for its Airbus A320 navigation wingtip lighting. According to Honeywell, its LED wingtip navigation lighting lasts up to 40 times longer than current halogen technology, saving maintenance costs for airline operators. The drop-in replacement for the existing lighting does not require any aircraft modification and does not add additional weight. Volaris began retrofitting wingtip lighting on 20 Airbus A320 aircraft in December, with completion scheduled for early 2010. Honeywell LED lighting is now standard on new production Airbus A320 aircraft.

Regardless of how fuel price has moderated in the U.S. in recent years, the importance of global platforms and global markets means the drive to create more mass-efficient vehicle structures, subassemblies and components continues unabated.
