Abaqus 6.9 Extended Functionality FEA tool from Dassault Systemes delivers key features and enhancements for modeling, advanced mechanics, and performance. The features enable customers to consolidate simulation software, thus lowering cost and increasing efficiency in product development processes. Modeling features include interactive support for meshing models using cylindrical elements, geometry repair tools for greater flexibility and broader scope of geometry adjustment, and an interface for model change definitions. Advanced mechanics enhancements include modeling of viscoelastic behavior with orthotropic/anisotropic elasticity in Abaqus/Explicit, a method for analyzing structures subject to air blast loading, and advancements in fracture and failure evaluation. Performance improvements include an iterative solver in Abaqus/Standard for performance gains up to 20x, compared to the direct sparse solver, and surface mesh creation using the mapped meshing method that presents 2-20x performance gains.
