The GRAS Surface Microphone Type 40LS from GRAS Sound and Vibration is a high-precision microphone for measurements on planar and curved surfaces. Featuring a useful frequency range up to 70 kHz and a dynamic range of 160 dB, the Type 40LS has an integrated CCP 1 preamplifier and is delivered with a built-in TEDS 2 chip that enables it to be programmed as a complete unit. It has an integrated 1.5-m coaxial cable with a microdot connector and a detachable silicon-rubber fairing. Because of its low mass, the microphone with fairing can be mounted on surfaces using double-sided tape. Applications include measurements on vehicle surfaces in wind tunnels and in operation and for acoustic-fatigue testing of airplanes.
