Temperature being a critical factor in battery performance, Behr America has formed a new group to focus on battery cooling for hybrid and electric vehicles. The unit is based at the company's U.S. headquarters in Troy, MI. It supports its OEM customers with vehicle integration and its battery-supplier customers with direct battery pack integration of thermal systems. The company has three main solutions for battery cooling: cooled air, refrigerant, and secondary-loop solutions. All three require integration of battery cooling into the air-conditioning circuit, according to Behr.
