The AutoVision OV9715 camera from OmniVision Technologies is specifically tailored for advanced automotive imaging applications. With a one-megapixel image sensor, the camera features a zero-degree micro lens shift and 1280 x 800 pixel array. The OV9715 is suitable for advanced forward-looking and extreme wide-angle field-of-view vision applications, such as 360° bird’s-eye view and parking assistance systems. It is also optimized for use in automotive vision and sensing system combinations, such as rear-view and trajectory-based lane departure warning systems. Based on OmniPixel3-HS architecture, the 0.25-in (6.4-mm) OV9715 delivers low-light performance at 3300 mV/(lux-sec), enabling high-quality images in virtually any lighting condition. The OV9715 provides full-frame, subsampled, or windowed eight-bit/10-bit images in raw RGB format via the digital video port. The sensor delivers full-frame high-definition video at 30 frames per second (fps) and VGA resolution at 60 fps.

Connectivity spawns need for security designed-in from the beginning, a complex issue that spans many disciplines.
If there’s any doubt that connectivity is the next wave for advanced features and functions, it should dissipate after CES 2017. A multitude of advances in over the air updates and security will be shown in Las Vegas in January, setting the stage for much of the auto industry’s technology rollouts throughout the year.
Emerging markets and technologies are both creating openings for Taiwanese suppliers. China’s burgeoning automotive market is a primary target for companies that focus on OEM sales, while emerging technologies like LEDs and head-up displays (HUD) are also providing opportunities.
