REM has established a refurbishment program that converts scrap parts into better-than-new components, according to the company. The REM ISF process helps keep industrial equipment running by reducing friction among intermeshed parts, increasing mean time between equipment overhaul and improving power density to meet production demands. On a used part, the ISF process is capable of removing failure-causing wear patterns and marks such as micropitting, scuffing, and fretting. ISF processing is suitable for use on parts as little as a few ounces up to components over 5000 lb (2270 kg).
