The U.S. Department of Transportation is seeking input for the development of a five-year intelligent transportation systems (ITS) strategic plan. Comments are due to the DOT by May 20 and will be used to shape a research agenda to be released in October 2009. Although comments regarding any aspect of ITS are welcome, the DOT says it is particularly interested in learning about "future technologies and systems that will build from and continue to provide transformational change to the transportation system, but that in current form are still highly exploratory in nature." The DOT is also interested in comments related to opportunities for technology transfer and key metrics for program evaluation. The program is expected to focus on multi-modal transportation and wireless connectivity. Comments are due to the DOT by May 20.
