The EC102 and EC103 series of smart digital triac (triode for alternating current) closed-loop control boards from LCR Electronics enable motor speed regulation down to +/-2%. Suitable for commercial and consumer power tools, the EC102 and EC103 can accept sensor feedback in variable voltage or variable frequency types. The control method includes a soft-start for universal motors to prolong life. Both boards feature a bidirectional electronic switch; a closed-loop design to regulate speed selection with variable inputs such as a knob or lever; visible LEDs to indicate board power and status; an operating temperature range from -40 to +85°C (-40 to +185°F); and an optional conformal coating to perform in hot, humid, dusty, and low-temperature environments.
