Komatsu to build new plant, tech center in China

Komatsu Ltd. recently acquired 630,000 m² (6.8 million ft²) of land in Changzhou, China, where Komatsu (Changzhou) Construction Machinery Corp. (KCCM) is located. Komatsu is going to relocate the entire operation of KCCM to the new site and build a new plant and technical center there. Production of wheel loaders, hydraulic excavators, and dump trucks at the new plant is expected to begin in January 2010. At the technical center, Komatsu plans to house a demonstration center for Komatsu Group's products, a training center for a comprehensive range of educational programs, and a remarketing center for used equipment and remanufactured components. Construction of the center is expected to be completed in June 2010.
