Delphi will be supplying telematics transceivers to Caterpillar starting in 2010. Sensors and software in the transceivers will enable equipment to send and retrieve data using global positioning systems and wireless telecommunications technology. The systems will be used as part of Caterpillar’s Product Link initiative. Product Link uses onboard systems to collect equipment information and send data wirelessly from equipment to a Web application that customers can access anywhere they have an Internet connection. The initiative is designed to provide customers with technology to better manage their fleet by creating worksites that are connected using telematics wireless communications devices.
