Meridian will make SMC in Mexico

  • 05-Feb-2009 04:12 EST
Meridian Automotive Systems Inc. on Feb. 4 announced plans to install sheet molding compounding (SMC) capabilities at its plant in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. At peak production, the recently constructed plant will be capable of producing approximately 75 million lb (34 million kg) of SMC annually. That will enable Meridian to sell world-class engineered formulations of SMC sheet to other Mexican-based molders within the growing thermoset composites industry. The Mexico plant complements Meridian's existing SMC capacity located in Grabill, IN.
