An intelligent tool control system from Zeroshift is designed to solve hand tool management problems. By automatically recording who removes and returns tools from the cabinet, the system helps eliminate foreign object debris, increases the availability of tools, and provides productivity information. The system is supplied as a strong cabinet in a range of standard sizes. Tools are fitted into a solvent-resistant LD45 foam in a choice of colors. The modular electronic control system simplifies maintenance and minimizes downtime. To access a tool, users must first unlock the cabinet via electronic identification card or PIN. The system checks users against its internal database and then allows or disallows access to the tool drawers. An optical sensor mounted under the tool cavity notifies the control system when a tool is removed or replaced.
