Romax Technology’s second service pack for RomaxDesigner R12.6 contains more additions to the software package, and it includes a number of updates and extensions to existing modules. The first of two new modules introduced in Service Pack 2 is the helical gear micro-geometry analysis extension, which allows gear tooth contact pressure and subsurface stress results to be reported, giving greater insight on actual loading conditions. The second is a new cycloid drive module that allows engineers to analyze cycloid drives as part of a full system and understand design issues, including the effects of manufacturing errors. Further improvements have been made to the parallel shaft modeler level one module, which allows users to evaluate the contribution of specific gears, shafts, bearings, and housings to the predicted gear mesh misalignments. This enables the user to target the components that have the largest impact, thereby minimizing misalignment and transmission error.
