Capable of handling large engine parts and new material types, Bekaert’s diamond-like carbon coating machine is used in both the automotive and racing industries. The Dymon 5, which is installed in the company’s production site in Raleigh-Durham, N.C., coats components at temperatures below 200°C (392°F). Allowing for shorter delivery times, the machine is used to coat racing parts such as aluminum pistons, piston pins, valves, and suspension components, along with other items. For the automotive market, the Dymon 5 can handle high volumes of valvetrain components (tappets), diesel injection components, and piston pins.
