Renishaw's TONiC compact optical encoder is suited for a range of motion control applications in micromanufacturing systems. It aids system design with a tiny hardware footprint, good signal purity and stability, and easy setup. The device contains advanced optics and electronics in a 35 x 13.5 x 10 mm size. It comes in both linear and rotary versions, works at speeds up to 10 m/s (3.24 m/s at 0.1 µm resolution), and temperatures up to 70ºC while providing resolution to 5 nm.
