Grote Industries has developed a modular power delivery and lighting system with the Ultra-Blue-Seal harness system and the Ultra-Nose-Box receptacle to provide an electrical and lighting platform for trailers. The total power and lighting system is sealed and waterproof, and the design permits various connections without having to change the entire harness system. The rugged nose box solves the problem of cracked, corroded, and crowded electrical junction boxes and offers double the standard number of pin connections, a push-on plug function, glass-filled nylon housing, and insert-molded pins to seal out moisture and corrosive materials. Molded, threaded brass inserts ensure the nose box is locked down, while the seal harness system features configuration flexibility.

As ground vehicles employ more electronic sensing, control and communication systems, design engineers are increasingly utilizing more commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) modules. Though COTS slashes development time and costs, it’s still difficult for many military users to find COTS boards that meet their low-volume demands for ruggedization and redundancy.
