A compact 750 x 37 x 7.8 mm (30 x 1.5 x 0.3 in) ruggedized solid state disk (SSD) from Austin Semiconductor supports an embedded, integrated drive electronic, PIO/4 interface and is suitable for harsh environment operation from 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F). The device is intended for direct board mounting, while redundant board interconnects make it appropriate for handheld applications. It provides a total bit density of 4, 8, or 16 GB and a sustained transfer rate of 6.7 MB/s. The SSD is based on a package stacking technology to create a space-conscious disk. It is capable of operating in harsh, vibration-prone platforms including heavy transportation, military, aerospace, and industrial applications.
