Interlaken Technology’s warm forming press system offers the capability to develop new ways to form aluminum, magnesium, and steel panels into shapes that could improve design capabilities and reduce mass on vehicles, improving fuel efficiency. Systems are capable of forming aluminum and magnesium at temperatures to 350°C (662°F); higher temperature solutions are available. Warm forming aluminum and magnesium allows for tighter formed radii, better elongation, and deep draws that cannot be achieved at room temperature. Using the technique, large parts can be formed on a smaller system because of the lower forming pressures required, and detailed logos or threads can be incorporated into the part design. Other benefits include a small footprint, multichannel closed loop control system, and mode switching enabling the user to switch between feedbacks such as force, position, internal pressure, and other system variables.
