Hermetic Switch's magnets, which range from tiny button to larger rare earth magnets, are made of such materials as cast nickel alloys, ceramics, and neodymium. Twelve sizes of square-shaped magnets and 12 sizes of cylindrical-shaped units come in strengths from 250 to 1100 gauss. The units are used to actuate magnetically operated reed switches and sensors. Since reed switches require no electric power source or battery to operate, they are suited for applications where power conservation is critical.
