Planetics custom planar transformers and inductors from Payton America are suited for use in power converters for electric, hybrid, and industrial vehicles. An example of a custom design is a 36 kVA unit with 600 A rms primary current and 230 A secondary current in a 140 x 90 x 40 mm (5.5 x 3.5 x 1.6 in) thermal package with 0.66ºC/W thermal impedance designed for a cool plate high-vibration environment. With 120 W of dissipation, this design has an efficiency of 99.67%. The switching frequency is 60 kHz, and the topology is push-pull.
