Boom building

Link-Belt recently completed a 90,000-ft² (8361-m²) expansion of its main production facility in Lexington, KY. It contains two new production lines for shot blast, hang line painting, and the assembly and manufacturing of booms and other key components. It will reach full production late in 2008. The expansion will reduce crane boom lead time while increasing capacity and improving quality, according to the company. It also allows the company to combine all boom-manufacturing processes from fabrication to assembly into a synchronized pull system.
