Providing design engineers with a robust device suitable for various high-voltage, harsh environment applications, TT Electronics offers a thick film chip resistor with resistance values to 100 Mohm. The HVC Series resistors are available in standard 1206, 2010, and 2512 package sizes and are suitable for automatic handling methods. Wrap-around terminations have an electroplated nickel barrier and either tin/lead or RoHS compliant matte tin finish, improving leach resistance properties and solderability. The construction allows the chip resistor to operate in harsh environments, including military applications. Continuous voltage ratings are up to 3 KV, with maximum overload voltage to 4.5 KV. The HVC Series also offers low voltage coefficient of less than 25 ppm and an operating temperature range of -55 to +155°C (-67 to +311°F). Custom designs are available.

As ground vehicles employ more electronic sensing, control and communication systems, design engineers are increasingly utilizing more commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) modules. Though COTS slashes development time and costs, it’s still difficult for many military users to find COTS boards that meet their low-volume demands for ruggedization and redundancy.
