A real-time workshop embedded coder product from The MathWorks for Release 2008a has been certified by TÜV SÜD Automotive. TÜV granted the certificate based on a workflow for typical automotive applications that addresses application-specific verification and validation of models and generated code. The workflow describes the use of model-based design for applications complying with IEC 61508-3. According to the report, The MathWorks was audited to assess its development and quality assurance procedures, focusing on the software modification process, customer bug reporting, and fitness for safety-related development. The coder product also passed the Automotive Code Validation Suite (AVS) in June 2008.  AVS provides an independent test suite for validating embedded code generators.
