Precious Plate engineers gold, palladium, and silver plating processes for specific plating needs. According to the company, limiting precious metals such as gold and palladium to critical locations greatly reduces the amount of precious metal used during the electroplating process, thereby reducing costs. Selective spot plating is also suitable for tin and tin/lead plating where finished parts require overmolding. The process offers minimization of the plated area, which reduces migration of melted tin and tin/lead that may cause electrical shorts. Efficiency and reliability improvements are also realized by preventing the buildup of residual tin particles on mold tooling. Selective spot plating provides a reduction in precious metal consumption as well as reduces overall precious metal costs.
