Fox Electronics’ F53 series of high-density complementary metal oxide semiconductor (HCMOS) oscillators is designed for applications where better stability and noise characteristics are needed, such as in communication equipment, data transfer, and test and measurement equipment. The RoHS-compliant series offer 3.3-V operation and tighter stability options of 15, 10, and 8 ppm and also feature a wide temperature range of -20 to +70°C (-4 to +158°F) or optional temperature range of -40 to +85°C (-40 to +185°F). The HCMOS version has an input current of 7 mA and an output current of 4 mA minimum.

As ground vehicles employ more electronic sensing, control and communication systems, design engineers are increasingly utilizing more commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) modules. Though COTS slashes development time and costs, it’s still difficult for many military users to find COTS boards that meet their low-volume demands for ruggedization and redundancy.
