ACTech has produced customized small batches and individual castings for the mining industry using rapid-prototyping technology developed from the automotive and aerospace industries. The firm can produce complex castings such as mud pumps, transmission components, drilling bits, and hook structures. Other benefits of pattern-less prototype technologies include short lead times and the opportunity to offer individual design solutions by adapting existing casting designs to individual mining problems. Special alloys are used in addition to iron- and stainless-steel alloys, bronze, austempered ductile iron, and nickel alloys, as well as material compounds (multiple materials in one casting). The firm also offers product and technology development support including the use of reverse engineering to replace worn parts that are no longer being commercially produced.
