Programmable vertical Hall-effect technology used by Piher is only sensitive to the flux density coplanar with the integrated-circuit surface enabling low-cost contactless sensors to be manufactured for extreme enviroments. Limitations of potentiometric solutions, such as wear and limited electrical angle, are overcome by this compact design, the robust sensor, and up to 360° electrical angle (without dead band). Typical applications for the maintenance-free contactless sensors are noncontacting long-life angle/position sensor, absolute rotary position sensor, marine sensors and control, brake position sensor, and throttle/EGR valve and gear position sensor.
