RACam from Delphi Automotive is an integrated radar and camera system that incorporates radar sensing, vision sensing, and data fusion into a single, sophisticated module to enable a full range of active safety functionalities. Slated for introduction on the new Volvo SPA platform at the end of 2014, RACam is, claims Delphi Automotive, the world's first integrated radar and camera system. According to the company, Delphi's integrated sensor fusion system offers drivers a bundle of advanced safety features in their vehicles and helps OEMs, including Volvo, meet new Euro NCAP five-star ratings. RACam is engineered to be significantly lighter and smaller than non-integrated systems, which is a benefit for OEMs.
