BASF basecoats’ XSpark, a new automotive OEM special-effect coating, contains very fine glass particles that reflect light with greater precision, thus creating a pronounced sparkle. According to the company, it glitters in an even more focused and intensive manner than any other currently known special-effect coating. While developing the coating, the designers collaborated closely with lab experts. The glass particles integrated in the coating flash clearly in the light. The resulting pure, single-colored reflection conveys a depth to the coating, claims the company. Targeted especially at premium car manufacturers and their customers, XSpark is an addition to BASF’s XColors product family.
