Encased in hermetically sealed ceramic packages, AVX Corp.’s THH Series offers a broad range of capacitance values and the highest rated temperature range of any surface-mount device (SMD) tantalum capacitor series available on the market at -55 to +230ºC (-67 to +446ºF), claims the company. The THH 230ºC Hermetic Series features volumetric efficiency and an extended minimum lifetime of 1000 h. The series also provides stability in high temperature, humid, and ambient atmosphere environments and are impervious to the capacitance drop common to high-temperature operation, which enables significant size reductions, lower components counts, and reliability improvements in high temperature applications such as down-hole oil drilling. Available in two cases sizes and two termination options for additional design flexibility, the capacitors feature a voltage range of 10-63 V dc, a capacitance tolerance of ±20%, and a leakage current of 0.01 CV.
