Mentor Graphics and Mercedes-Benz Trucks have successfully applied the Capital software suite to develop the Actros, Daimler’s flagship heavy truck. Actros includes sophisticated electrical/electronic systems that improve efficiency, safety, and reliability. Capital was used for the tools’ significant design automation and design data management as well as the ability to be used by large, multisite organizations. The software suite features strong design life-cycle management, electrical/mechanical data integration, and standardized communication with suppliers, all pivotal in the development of the Actros’ complex electrical systems integration, design validation, and configuration management. The Capital suite spans an electrical system's design and service flow targeted at transportation applications and creates digital continuity within the electrical domain to compress development cycle time and reduce costs.
