Piezoelectric accelerometers from Kistler support aircraft, satellite, UAV, helicopter, and missile ground vibration testing as well as large-scale MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) and SIMO (single-input, multiple-output) aerospace structural monitoring. The single-axis Type 8640A weighs 3.5 g and is used for large-scale aircraft structural testing and monitoring, including modal analysis. Offered in ranges of ±5 g, ±10 g, and ±50 g, with sensitivities from 1000 mV/g to 100 mV/g, the sensor’s ceramic cantilever beam sensing element is thermally compensated, allowing it to emit an electrical charge when stressed during vibration exposure. Also available is the 8772A for use in larger-channel applications. For simultaneous vibration measurements in three orthogonal axes, the Type 8688A PiezoBeam IEPE triaxial accelerometer is available.
