Hirose offers a 0.5 mm (0.02 in) pitch flat flexible cable/flexible printed circuit (FFC/FPC) connector that supports serial interface technology for picture transmission. The FH41 Series (right angle) and FH48 Series (vertical) connectors feature a ground terminal design, impedance-matched shielded FFC ground contacts, and high-speed transmission rates. Both series are 2.5 mm (0.1 in) above-the-board connectors equipped with ground terminals for use with shielded FFC. Other features include FFC/FPC positioning, flip-lock rotating actuators, durable construction, and tactile locking. The FH41 and FH48 Series are designed for use with pick-and-place machines, enabling quick placement on the PCB. Both are halogen-free and RoHS-compliant with a current rating of 0.5 A and a contact resistance of 100 mΩ with availability in 20, 40, 50, and 68 positions.

As ground vehicles employ more electronic sensing, control and communication systems, design engineers are increasingly utilizing more commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) modules. Though COTS slashes development time and costs, it’s still difficult for many military users to find COTS boards that meet their low-volume demands for ruggedization and redundancy.
