Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions' high performance embedded computing (HPEC) center offers OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED) software running on a CHAMP-AV8 series dual second-generation Intel Core i7 digital signal processing module enabled with Gen2 Serial RapidIO (SRIO). OFED open-source software component abstracts fabrics and operating system remote direct memory access from higher level software and supports multiple fabrics including SRIO, ethernet, InfiniBand, and operating systems including Linux and Windows. The HPEC system can support 224 GB/sec fabric connectivity in a standard 16-slot OpenVPX chassis. OpenMPI open sources implementation of the message passing interface, and RapidIO RIONet transports ethernet frames. Open source interfaces help bring commercial HPEC architectures to rugged defense and aerospace subsystems and improve the level of processing performance that can be deployed to warfighters.
