The Nitronex NPA1004 is a 1-2 GHz, high-gain power amplifier for the military communications market. The gallium nitride device features integrated input matching, inter-stage matching, and RF biasing in a 0.28-in² package, allowing subsystem designers to shrink the footprint significantly compared to competing solutions. The unit achieves 27 dB small signal gain, 50-W saturated output power, and 55% typical drain efficiency. The high gain of the device allows designers to eliminate a driver stage, and the high levels of integration reduce board space while simplifying design and manufacturing processes.
